THE Pakenham Bowls Club had a mixed week to finish of the year, splitting results across the four grades.
The highlight of the week was the performance of the fourth side that comfortably defeated the visiting Glen Eira-McKinnon team on the club’s new synthetic surface.
All four rinks were successful and the home side got 18 points to add to their season tally. A top performance was put in by all team members.
The third side travelled to Cheltenham and also came away with a satisfying victory with three rinks getting up and taking 16 points home.
A great effort by all concerned as the team put in one of its best performances of the season.
The second side travelled to Keysborough and at the half-way mark of the day Pakenham was looking good with all rinks scoring well.
Then the wheels fell off and two rinks went down in numbers and the side was beaten by one shot overall.
It was a very disappointing loss for the side, which was hoping for a successful afternoon to stay in touch of a finals spot which is now slipping away, week by week.
The Pakenham first team played host to Croydon and got beaten by 16 shots overall. Only one rink was successful providing the team with a disappointing two points for the afternoon.
The Pakenham Bowls Club would like to wish everybody a very merry Christmas, and a safe and happy New Year.
The club would like to see members and friends back in the New Year, not only for barefoot bowls, but also for the new Thursday night Cardinia Triples competition, which is played under lights.
