New Year’s Eve (M)
Starring: Everyone you could ever think of … Halle Berry, Jessica Biel, Jon Bon Jovi, Abigail Breslin, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Robert De Niro, Josh Duhamel, Zac Efron, Héctor Elizondo, Katherine Heigl, Ashton Kutcher, Seth Meyers, Lea Michele, Sarah Jessica Parker, Michelle Pfeiffer, Til Schweiger, Hilary Swank and SofíaVergara.
NEW Year’s Eve is the perfect movie to get you into the holiday spirit.
Its mind-numbing brilliance will help you escape the hustle and bustle of Christmas shopping, mums in Range Rovers threatening to run anyone in their way down and dads pushing shopping trolleys at your ankles.
The movie’s bill of stars is astounding, with almost everyone in Hollywood getting a gig, and while there are moments that will make you smile, get a bit teary and chuckle – it never really goes anywhere.
There are some good performances while others are dull as their characters never seem to get off the ground.
Michelle Pfeiffer plays a dowdy unhappy single woman and it’s not until half way through the movie you realise it’s her. Hilary Swank’s character steals the show, but performances by High School Musical heart-throb Zac Efron, rapper Ludacris and bad boy Ashton Kutcher, make you think they are doing no less than playing versions of themselves.
Much like its cousin, He’s Just Not That Into You, each story intertwines and the characters somehow share a link – but at the end of the day there’s no real point to it.
It’s an easy movie to watch, enjoy the holidays spirit and chow down on some popcorn while getting away from the craziness of the world approaching Christmas.
