No excuse for speeding

POLICE nabbed a driver doing more than twice the speed limit on Ballarto Road on Saturday afternoon.
At around 4.15pm, Cardinia Highway Patrol intercepted a 37-year-old Seaford man travelling at 155 kph in a 70 kph zone in the township of Cardinia.
The man’s vehicle has been impounded for 30 days under the anti-hoon legislation and he has been charged on summons to appear before the Dandenong Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
The charges include driving at a dangerous speed, careless driving and exceeding the speed limit.
Sergeant Allen Inderwisch from Cardinia Highway Patrol said the high speeds coupled with the poor road surface could have resulted in a fatality.
“We are extremely disappointed by that sort of driving behaviour and there is no excuse for driving at those speeds,” Sgt Inderwisch said.
“That section of the road is not in the best condition, so travelling at those speeds is just silly.
“When he goes to court he can expect to face a substantial monetary penalty as well as loss of licence.”
