LAUREN Harrison was named Cardinia Shire’s Young Citizen of the Year in 2011.
And was invited to attend a function last week that brought together young people from around the state and thanked them for their contribution to the community.
Proud dad Jeremy Harrison said Lauren was invited to attend the evening without really knowing what it was all about.
“We thought it was something to do with Australia Day,” he said.
“We turned up to Government House last Thursday with 950 others guests pondering why they were there.
“It was merely an evening that brought all young people from around the state and both Governor Alex Chernov and Premier Ted Baillieu wanted to say thank you for the contribtions they have made to the community,” he said.
