Lions cops a bruising

ROUND 14 of Metropolitan Pennant had the Pakenham Bowls Club licking a few wounds but with one win from four matches it wasn’t all doom and gloom.
Pakenham One played Mentone at Mentone, and was shown what Division One bowling is all about. With Mentone coming down from Premier league this year they have a lot to prove and they seem certain to be going back up the ranks next year. Pakenham won one rink for two points, and were beaten by 24 shots overall.
Pakenham Two played at home against Mount Waverley and had a much more enjoyable day. The visitors were never really in the hunt and the Lions romped home by 27 shots, taking away 16 points for their trouble. There was great teamwork right across the green.
Pakenham Three went to Moorabbin and it was a long drive home after getting beaten by 32 shots. One rink got up, so only two points came home in the trunk for the Pakenham team.
The new synthetic green at Pakenham found another victim and unfortunately it was the Pakenham Four side which wasn’t able to handle it. With only one winning rink and one drawn rink only three points came our way with the fours getting beaten by 33 shots.
