RAY Cook’s blistering 5/17, Sean McDermott belting a big ton, Brendan McEwart destroying Nyora for only 16 and Ian Mortimer doing all the work for PUT C grade were the highlights this week in the other grades of the WGCA.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:B GRADE

OFFICER (77) was consumed by the tear-away trio, as Emerald (1/80) laid siege to any hope of the Bullants posting a defendable target.
Bombers’ bowlers Wynne (3/30), Hellreigel (3/10) and Smith (3/20) skittled Officer in 31.2 overs, with Braydon McHugh (34) and Jesse Longmuir (15) the only Bullants to resist the crumble.
The response from Emerald was brisk as Caleb Lobbe (34 not out) and Andrew Alenson (30 not out) knocked off the runs in 25 overs with Trent Rolfs the only man to fall.
RAY Cook (5/17) knocked down the pins set up for him by Brad Eagleton (54) and Andrew Jones (58) as Beaconsfield (5/195cc) set the bar too high for Pakenham (147) to attain.
Beaconsfield batsmen got starts seemingly at will as they piled on the runs. Rylan Dunn (2/27) was the only multiple wicket taker for the Lions.
In response, the Tigers’ bowling was led by Cook, who tore through the Pakenham batting order with good assistance from Rhys Miller (3/28). Steven Dillon (33) top scored for Pakenham.
MERINDA Park (7/181) chased down a sizeable Kooweerup (7/172cc) total. Batting first, Kooweerup’s Richard Light (76 not out) shone brightest for the Demons, with Stephen Johnson (27) the next best contributor.
Scott Kunziak (3/43) and Dale Cunliffe (2/22) exacted the most carnage for the Cobras with the ball.
The chase was made pretty comfortably, with the top four from Merinda Park getting past 20 with Peter Jessop (38) top scoring. Hayden Watson (4/43) picked up crucial wickets, but the Lions couldn’t claim enough to get the job done.
DEVON Meadows (8/186cc) had enough in the tank to take the points against Pakenham Upper/Toomuc (9/170). Luke Howard (47), Shane Simpson (36) and a late flourish from Chris Morrell (32 not out) pushed the Panthers to a healthy score. Rhys Fegan (3/31) was the best from the Yabbies with the ball.
The response from PUT fell short with John Miller (51) top scoring in the chase. Howard (3/23) capped off a great all-round match and Chris Floyd (3/26) also took a few scalps.
B Grade matches this round: Officer v Devon Meadows, Pakenham v Kooweerup, Merinda Park v Pakenham Upper/Toomuc, Emerald v Beaconsfield.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:C GRADE

SEAN McDermott fired off a brilliant century to steer Beaconsfield (4/301cc) to a massive victory over Cranbourne Meadows (126).
McDermott’s 110 featured boundaries to all corners of Akoona Park and he gained good support from Steve Glen (59 not out) and Ross Mitchell (52) as the Tigers went past 300 at an impressive run rate of 7.5.
The Rebels were unable to get close to the massive target, folding within 30 overs against Tigers’ duo David Hoey (4/17) and Angus Bunnell (3/37). Vince Pecora (28) was the best of the batsmen for the Meadows.
TOORADIN (137) took a 65-run win over Ian Mortimer … at least it seemed that way as Mortimer was the only PUT (72) player to put up a fight against the Seagulls.
Mortimer claimed 6/24 to restrict Tooradin to the chaseable score before top scoring with 25 when he came in at number eight with PUT in complete chaos at 6/15.
The Mortimer I plus PUT X (formerly known at PUT C Grade) was skittled under the pressure of Tooradin opening bowlers Daniel Quinn (3/8) and Luke Adams (3/18).
Tooradin posted their score on the back of a resilient half-century from Adam Richmond (66) who had good support from Andrew Proctor (22), both under heavy pressure from Mortimer, who ripped through the Seagulls with some help from Nick Kyval (2/26).
Nick Braham (17) could gain a temporary membership to the Ian Mortimer team, as he was the only other Yabbie to break into double figures and resist the collapse.
LYNDHURST Vikings (3/83) plundered the Catani (82) batting line-up, with Garry Godfrey (4/22), Matt Retallick (2/9) and Ash Peters (3/8) squaring away the biggest share of the bounty.
After a promising start at 0/30, the whole team collapsed for only 52 more. First drop Josh Bethune (17) resisted the Vikings valiantly until he danced down the crease and was stumped at 9/82. The response from Lyndhurst was just as brutal, with Peters (30) and Stephen Marshall (28 not out) completing the raid in only 23 overs.
THE lower-order fightback from Daniel Waite (39 not out) and Ethan McLean (37) proved decisive as Clyde (6/164cc) defeated Cardinia (96).
The pair was brought together at 5/65 and dragged the Cougars to a competitive score. The Bulls were unable to mount much of an offence and looked destined for a sub-50 total until Matt Ryan (40) brought some legitimacy to the scoresheet.
Liam Bennett (5/5) went on a rampage as he sliced through the Cardinia tail.
C Grade matches this round: Tooradin v Clyde, Lyndhurst Vikings v Beaconsfield, Cranbourne Meadows v Cardinia, Pakenham Upper/Toomuc v Catani.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:D GRADE

NYORA (16) collapsed spectacularly against Beaconsfield (182). Brendan McEwert (5/10) and Matt McBride (3/6) were the only two bowlers required for the Tigers as they ripped through the Maroons in 11.1 overs.
Michael McMahon (53) top scored for Beaconsfield and McBride (37) was next best.
Nyora gave away 21 extras in their bowling to leave them -5 for the day on aggregate. Peter Jensen (3/29) was the best of the Maroons’ bowlers.
EMERALD (127) saw off Upper Beaconsfield (115) with contributions from the entire batting order. Eight men went into double figures for the Bombers, but no-one went on with it, leaving 21 the top score from Lachlan Gleeson.
Paul Taylor (3/22) was the best bowler for Upper Beaconsfield.
The Maroons looked to be cruising at 4/105 before the next six wickets fell for 10 to leave them 12 short. Jason Burns (3/22) took the most scalps for the Bombers.
LANG Lang (59) copped the brunt of Nar Nar Goon/Maryknoll (4/66). Wayne Atta (17) was the lone hand for the Swamp Tigers, with no-one else getting double figures. Matt Langley (3/8) was particularly devastating for the Marygoons. In response, the Marygoons struggled to get going, slumping to 3/26 before Chase Saunders did as his name suggests and chased down the meagre total.
DESPITE a massive effort from Merinda Park (127) opening ball pair Jace Field (4/23) and Scott Strang (4/19), the Panthers couldn’t overcome St Francis Xavier (140). Brendan Hunt (54) top scored for the X-men and was the devastating bowler also, taking 4/17 to dismiss Merinda Park under par.
D Grade matches this round: St Francis Xavier v Emerald, Nar Nar Goon/Maryknoll v Nyora, Beaconsfield v Upper Beaconsfield, Merinda Park v Lang Lang.

PHIL Symons (137) knocked Officer (8/164cc) about the field as Clyde (7/245cc) stormed home for a massive victory.
Symons pulled the Cougars out of a quagmire from 3/14. Matt Cohen (56) helped steer the ship back with Symons as the pair added 151 for the fifth wicket. Billy Temby (3/50) worked hard for his wickets.
Temby was left holding the bag again as the top order collapsed around him to 5/58. He found help from Jeff Stephanistch (22) and Geoff Porter (38). Temby eventually fell for 16 in a great rearguard innings.
Clyde will want to work on minimising extras, after gifting Officer 47 including 19 no-balls and 25 wides.
ONLY Richard North (104) could get himself out as Pakenham (6/187cc) defeated Tooradin (9/162cc). North’s fine century came to an end when he hit his own wicket in the last over.
He and Rob Newell (40) made 95 for the second wicket. In response, Tooradin fell short by 25 with Grant Kernot (36) top scoring. Matt McCormick (3/29) was the best bowler for Pakenham.
EMERALD (8/178cc) held off Kooweerup (8/139cc) with Bombers’ opener Danny Ceeney (41 not out) holding off all attempts on his wicket. Glen Burns (3/52) was the best of the Kooweerup bowlers. In response, the Demons fell short 39 runs with Trent Cochrane (44) top scoring. Jesse Dodd (3/8) and Colin Burns (3/18) both claimed three wickets.
IT was all downhill for Beaconsfield (72) after Josh Bruneau (22) departed the crease against Pakenham Upper/Toomuc (5/76). From 2/40 to all out for 72, the Tigers submitted completely to the bowling of Yabbies’ bowlers Ron Milnes (3/12), Phillip Brook (2/2) and Rob Phillips (2/17).
The Yabbies chased the runs down with the loss of five wickets. Kieren Blake (29 not out) was the best batsman while David Green (2/4) was miserly from his five overs.
E Grade matches this round: Emerald v Tooradin, Pakenham Upper/Toomuc v Clyde, Officer v Pakenham, Kooweerup v Beaconsfield.

GEMBROOK (5/199cc) put away Nar Nar Goon/Maryknoll (108) after an 111-run opening stand between Dean Allcott (61) and Anthony Williams (53). In response, Brookers’ bowler Roger Armstrong (5/29) took career-best bowling figures to dismiss the Marygoons 91 runs short.
RICK Marshall (66) and Chris Day (53) delivered Officer (8/203) a big win over Clyde (8/95cc). Justin Gagalowitz (3/38) was Clyde’s best bowler. Marshall (3/10) claimed valuable scalps to get the Bullants the win. Daven Johnston (44 ret hurt) was the best batsman for Clyde.
DION Olszewski (84) was the deciding factor for Merinda Park (4/170cc) to win against Beaconsfield (9/167cc). Wayne Holden (52) was the top scorer for the Tigers.
DEVON Meadows (5/149) chased down Pakenham (8/145cc) with an over to spare. Antony Scott (54) top scored for the Panthers.
