WARRAGUL based trainer/reinswoman Casey Parker is one of 11 people selected to compete in a new race series next month.
The Bendigo Harness Racing Club and the Bendigo Harness Racing Training Centre have introduced the BHRTC Rising Stars Young Drivers Series, to be raced at Bendigo and Maryborough with the first of the three races being conducted at Bendigo on Friday 3 February.
The Series is restricted to young drivers who have not had a lot of opportunities in their fledgling careers. To be eligible the drivers must be under the age of 25 years at the commencement of the current racing season last September and had less than 100-career-drives at acceptance time for the first race of the Series.
Casey attended the Gippsland Harness Training Centre and has since set up a stable at the GHTC campus at Warragul where she prepares her own horses.
She has had success as a trainer with Its Jacks Fault (one win and two minor placing’s) and has driven for several other stables with some success.
The leading young driver in the Rising Star Series -based on point accrued- will be awarded a trophy by the BHRTC. All trophies and prizes will be award at Bendigo on 19 February.
Cardinia driver Luke Duthie, also a graduate of the Gippsland Harness Training Centre, has been named as a reserve for the series.
