Your bit for the tot

By Danielle Galvin
AT NEARLY one year old, Pakenham tot Hudson Kingsley knows too much about fighting for his life.
He has cystic fibrosis and in March friends of the Kingsley family have planned a day to raise money and awareness of the disease that one in four children will be diagnosed with in Australia.
“We’ve been pounding the concrete for sponsors,” organiser and family friend Kirsty Wilmann said.
The family fun day is on Saturday 3 March at Pakenham Springs Primary School.
There will be $2000 worth of raffle prizes to be won, 31 stalls and rides galore.
It’s the day Hudson turns one.
“We’re selling unlimited wristbands for the rides. We have deep powered cars, two jumping castles, an animal farm, a reptile show that goes for an hour and we’re hoping to get a few more rides,” she said.
“We’ve also got a face painter and a dunking machine. My friend is dressing up as a clown, so we’re calling it Dunk Fifi the Clown.”
Ben McDonald from BGM IT has helped the group set up a website to raise awareness for the cause.
“It’s a great way to raise funds for cystic fibrosis research,” he said.
On Saturday, Hudson was thrilled with a special trip to Frankston beach.
Seeing Hudson’s smile makes the fundraiser worthwhile.
“He’s going really well, but he still has some congestion in his chest. He enjoyed a day at the beach. It’s really good for him, the salt and the air helps,” she said.
