A CLASS action against the owners of the Wonthaggi desalination plant has been dropped by farmers in Pakenham and Kooweerup.
Landowners claimed Thiess Degremont Nacap removed an important flood levee in McDonalds Drain Road while laying pipelines to the desalination plant and failed to reinstate it before the heavy rains on February 4 last year.
As a result of the levee being removed, landowners said their properties and homes were flooded, ruining crops and hectares of pastures.
This week Slater and Gordon lawyer Manisha Blencowe said a decision not to continue proceedings was made some time ago.
“While we met with landholders at a public meeting, we’ve not commenced any legal proceedings,” she said.
