Two-man ladies kick off

THE Garfield ladies officially started their 2012 golfing adventure on Tuesday and a relaxed game of two-man Ambrose was the perfect way to do it. The first winners for the year were Debbie Huyskens and Lyn Vears who came in with a good score 51 nett with Hillary Hockley and Vikki Templeton were three shots behind on 54 nett.
The Summer Cup concluded the previous week with Maree Rogers playing the most consistent over summer and being rewarded with the Annual Trophy. The summer eclectic was also announced and Leesa Matthews took out this year’s award.

The very talented Neil Currie (18) took out Thursday’s prize with a nett score of 40 to win by a shot from Stephen Kohut (6) and William Church (22). Laurence Begg (25) had 38 points while Peter King (19) and Peter Johnson (15) rounded out the winners list with 37 points. Nearest the pins went to P.Skinner (4th), P.King (9th), G.McKay (14th) and Paul Govaars on the 16th. The secret nine was shared between Kohut and Begg with 21 points.

C Grade player Peter Smith (22) shot the best nett round of the day to win with 43 points while David Dineen (13) won A Grade on a count-back with 39 points. In B Grade Craig Hobson (18) got the chocies with 38 points.
Down the line balls went to T.Marshman on 40, P.Johnson and W.Kemp on 38, J.Coutts and I.Naggy on 37 points while C.Hunter, D.Lawler and T.Hockley had 36 points. Nearest the pins went to S.Kohut (4th), M.Neylen (8th), J.Sanderson (9th), D.Kerr (11th), D.Lawler (14th) and S.Male on the 16th. Closest second shots went to D.Smith (5th) and S.Male on the seventh.
In the Graeme Ovens Match play it was Damien Needham who defeated Shane Szybkowski 3/2 and will now meet Jackson Wade in the final. Meredith Bowers (19) won the ladies with 37 points. Next Week is Kings American Foursomes In the Sunday Stableford competition it was Wade Haysom (36) who scored victory with 36 points from runner-up Brent Eastwell (4) on 34 points. In Junior Pennant Garfield took the points as Traralgon were unable to field a team.
