WHEN young couple Josh Viney and Jordan Andersen arrived at Phuket Airport to find their plane was delayed, they never expected their flight to be cancelled.
“We arrived at Phuket airport to find our plane was repeatedly delayed with no explanations,” Josh said. “It wasn’t until about two in the morning, after nearly eight hours of waiting around, that we heard anything from Air Australia as to what was going on.
“An announcement informed us that the flight was cancelled and that Air Australia was not in a position to provide alternative accommodation to their passengers, so we were pretty much left to fend for ourselves.”
So Josh and his girlfriend, along with some fellow passengers shared a taxi back to Patong beach where they all hoped to find vacancies in nearby hotels.
“Luckily enough for us we were able to contact our parents back home in Australia and they managed to book us on the next available flight home to Melbourne on Monday night,” Josh said. “We are very fortunate, as many other people on flight VC241 had no money left as they were at the end of their holidays and had no way of finding accommodation or flights.”
