Tickets bought twice

Pakenham’s Kate Currin and her family now have to shell out an extra $1700 to pay for flights they already had booked.
The family of six will also add five extra hours to their trip to Thailand, thanks to the collapse of Air Australia.
“We had tickets booked for three adults and three children from Melbourne to Phuket,” Ms Currin said.
“I paid on credit card, so it looks like we might be able to get our money back, but it’s going to take a while to come through.
“Hopefully we can claim it as items not delivered.”
Desperate to have a holiday, the family has booked flights with another carrier, but at a cost.
They flew with Strategic Air (the former name of Air Australia) last year and said their experience was really good.
“We had an emergency stopover in Perth because of a drug mule collapsing, but that wasn’t the airline’s fault, so we were happy to fly with them again,” she said.
“We’re so angry, but glad we were able to find a way so that we didn’t have to disappoint the kids.”
