Bound for Tonimbuk

OLYMPIC hopefuls and leading riders from all over Australia will flock to the Tonimbuk Horse Trials this weekend for two days of competition.
The Tonimbuk Horse Trials, held over Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 March, is now in its thirteenth year and has received international accreditation.
The event attracts many of Australia’s leading riders and with the 2012 London Olympics looming, many of these riders are vying for Olympic selection.
Competitors this year will include former Olympian and World Equestrian Games Australian representative Megan Jones as well as Emily Anker and Will Enzinger, who have all represented Australia overseas together with a number of other elite Australian equestrians. Another colourful rider to watch is the NSW based international, Finnish rider Dominic Ingvall.
One of the Olympic selectors Seumas Marwood will himself be competing on horse Wild Oats.
With an average of 300 entries and an expected 2000 visitors to the event over the weekend, the Tonimbuk Equestrian Park will be buzzing with high energy competition.
Event sponsors include Pakenham Produce and Saddlery, Equissage, Redwood Prints, Mal Byrne Saddlery, Mitavite, Bendigo Bank, Veolia Environmental Services, Berwick Mowers and Tractor Centre, Hardy’s Mitre 10 Pakenham and Outlook Greenery.
Cardinia Shire Council is also an important supporter of this event and the Cardinia Shire Council Award will again be presented to the best performed rider who is a resident of the municipality.
The event commences on Saturday 10 March at 8.00am with Dressage for all classes.
The elite CIC*** dressage will be held in the indoor arena on Saturday evening, starting at 5:20pm.
The Introductory and Preliminary Showjumping will also be held on the Saturday with the remainder of the showjumping classes and all cross country sections of the event to be held on Sunday. Presentations will be held on Sunday afternoon at about 5.30pm.
Tonimbuk Horse Trials are a great day out for all the family for those who are ‘into horses’ or just enjoy a exciting sporting spectacle.
Entry is free at the gate and food and drink will be available on the day.
