TEAM Hudson is gathering momentum.
The group, headed by Hudson Day organiser Kirsty Wilmann, have crusaded to raise money for one-year-old Hudson Kingsley.
The Pakenham tot has cystic fibrosis and was diagnosed when he was just four-weeks old.
On Saturday, Team Hudson hosted a family fun day at Pakenham Springs Primary School. It was also Hudson’s first birthday.
Close friend of the family Kirsty said the rain was disappointing, but overall it went well.
“It was rained out so the rides weren’t functional. We had our face painter and a lot of other things going on inside,” she said.
About 250 people came along and Kirsty said she was told by one of the guests that it was a “great success.”
“It would have been better without the rain, but you take what you can get,” she said.
On Tuesday, the team were at the Heritage Springs market selling merchandise to raise money for cystic fibrosis research.
There’s also a sausage sizzle at Mitre 10 in Pakenham on Sunday.
Kirsty and the rest of the team have been committed to the cause from day one.
“I was just a friend that couldn’t do anything to help him. So I came up with this fundraiser idea,” she said.
The family fun day included raffles, stalls and a host of children’s activities.
On the Hudson Day website, his mum Erin describes what she sees as her role.
“It is the mission of Team Hudson to spread awareness of cystic fibrosis to anyone and everyone we can,” she said.
