WITH the long weekend cow numbers fell to 97 head at VLE Pakenham.
All the usual buyers attended the market which included mostly heavy-weight-beef cows.
There was also a good run of young Charolais cows which sold to restockers.
Prices were strong for the small penning which saw prices lift four cents for the heavier three to five score cows.
They ranged from 154 cents to 159.6 cents per kilogram.
The young cows returning to the paddock received from 173.6 cents to 185.6 cents per kilogram.
The lighter plain dairy cows gained four cents selling from 120 cents to 126 cents and the better covered two-score dairy cows were firm selling from 128 cents to 146 cents per kilogram.
Ten bulls were offered and the heavy B muscled sold from 160 cents to 185.6 cents to remain fully firm.
