Warriors’ ways wane

PAKENHAM couldn’t keep their winning ways going in this week’s round of Big V basketball, falling to Keilor, 65-94.
The Thunder was dominant but lazy in the first quarter, outscoring the Warriors 29-21, conceding seven turnovers and committing seven personal fouls.
Keilor continued to have the ball stripped off them by Pakenham, although the home side was unable to hit accurately – going 6/26 in the second quarter to give up a 28-49 deficit at half time.
To their credit, Pakenham fought back in the third quarter, showing the tenacity and intensity at the ball which they have in spades.
The Warriors worked the ball around and found the time to set up Daniel Stow, who hit a trio of three-pointers, and Winder, hitting the fourth three of the term to have the Warriors hit 21 points.
Their shooting was still average though, hitting only 3/16 field goal attempts for the term.
The pain was only magnified further in the last term as Pakenham hit 6/15 and generally failed to hit their shots when the time came.
Winder (17 points, four rebounds) led the way on the scoresheet for Pakenham, with good support from Stow (10 points) and Daniel Jeavons (six points, 18 rebounds).
