Trust in grants

FINANCIAL help is currently available through the P. B. Ronald Trust for students working in agriculture, horticulture or local government.
The trust is now inviting residents or former residents of Cardinia Shire to lodge an application.
Finance will be provided to assist with educational costs such as books, seminars or short course fees.
Application forms are available by contacting the trust secretary Wallace Macdonald by phoning 59411871 or e-mail walmac@bigpond.com
Applicants are requested to send an accompanying letter, outlining in detail the courses or studies that are being undertaken. The closing date for applications is 20 July.
The P. B. Ronald Memorial Trust was established in 1991, with the support of the Rotary Club of Pakenham, the Shire of Pakenham, Pakenham Racing Club and Pakenham and District Agricultural and Horticultural Society, to perpetuate the memory of the late Peter Ronald who died in 1989 at the age of 67.
He was a farmer at Pakenham with a wide range of community interests and involvement, a
councillor of the Shire of Berwick (Shire of Pakenham) for 23 years and for 50 years he served as a committeeman of Pakenham Racing Club.
Mr Ronald served as president of all three organisations and also the Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria.
He made a significant contribution to Victoria and to the district in which he lived and he always encouraged young people to participate in sport, local agricultural shows and community affairs generally.
Mr Ronald always strived to achieve the highest standard in all that he did.
When the P. B. Ronald Memorial Trust was established in 1991, wide public support was given to the appeal for funds, which was an indicator of the high esteem in which Peter Ronald was held in the community.
In the 21 years since the trust was set up, more than 80 people have been recipients of grants allocated from the trust funds.
