A CORONER will investigate the death of a 68-year-old male cyclist who died after colliding with a car on Monday morning.
The cyclist was travelling west on the Princes Highway near Mount Ararat in Nar Nar Goon about 10am when the collision occurred.
Investigators believe a silver Holden sedan was travelling in the same direction as the cyclist when the incident happened.
Senior Sergeant Trevor Vondrasek said the cyclist was struck from behind.
“The Major Collision Investigation Unit (MCIU) attended the scene and are investigating the matter,” he said.
Sen Sgt Vondrasek said it was “very unfortunate” and that there would be an investigation as a result of the incident.
Victoria Police said a 23-year-old Warragul woman was assisting police with their inquiries.
The state’s provisional road toll is 190, compared to last year when the road toll was 197.
