FOR Ian Jensen Schmidt, his art exhibition in Pakenham is a chance to get back in the saddle.
The Pakenham artist is displaying 12 of his art pieces after a five year hiatus following a stroke.
“I now have a totally different life and I am trying to kick start my life and get it happening again,” Mr Jensen Schmidt said.
“This is a good thing to be doing – getting back into the saddle.”
The work on display is a ‘culmination’ of a series of work developed over two years and will be exhibited at the Cardinia Cultural Centre during April.
“My paintings are landscape-based but without a gumtree in sight,” he said.
“It is deconstructed and I am trying to capture the feeling of the scene.”
Mr Jensen Schmidt said the landscapes are constructed from his imagination.
“In my mind they are the desert but people see different things,” he said.
“It is not a usual art show, not by any stretch.”
Mr Jensen Schmidt said he has been painting professionally for 15 years, during which he has lived in the Pakenham area.
Although he has held exhibitions in the area in the past, this is his first showing since a stroke five years ago.
Mr Jensen Schmidt said he has high hopes for this exhibition.
The exhibition will be on display at the Cardinia Cultural Centre until 25 April.
