WELCOME back to another year of the Little Legend – the Gazette’s weekly spotlight on the great young talent coming through junior football ranks.
The Gazette will be hitting the parks and reserves around the region … neither rain, nor sleet, nor heavy snow or searing heat, shall halt us in our endeavours to highlight some of the biggest contributions from some of our smallest players.

HE MAY well be a boy known as ‘Grass’, but Pakenham Lions under-nine rover Koby Grass certainly doesn’t spend too much time on the ground.
Whether it’s his fluoro boots or his supreme work-ethic, as he patrols up and down the field from deep forward to the last line of defence, it’s hard to miss the eight-year-old dynamo from Pakenham as he racks up possessions at will.
Working his way around the ground – with a tank the size of a petrol truck – Koby helped his team pick up the win against Berwick as he made his presence well known at the South East Juniors’ Little Demons Day at Pakenham’s Toomuc Reserve.
Here’s hoping a few of the AFL-listed Demons present on Sunday watched his matches to get a sense of how football should be played.
