Whilst I do not consider myself to be a “greenie” by any stretch of the imagination, I was a little bemused at the apparent lack of planning and foresight down Henry Road in Pakenham.
Some bright spark decided to plant trees down only one side of the road and yes, you guessed it, the same side as the overhead power lines.
In a few years’ time when these gum trees get taller, contractors will be called in to hack away at them, leaving them to resemble something from the enchanted forest, as is evidence down Main Street near the medical centre.
I’m sure there was a reason for doing this… but for the life of me, I can’t think of what it would have been.
David Connor,
Pakenham.
