Officer’s sad day

Officer has had a post office in the township for over 100 years and over Cup weekend we were alarmed to find it had been moved 2.5 kms from the centre of our town without any consultation with the Officer and District Community Association, residents, businesses, all users of this essential service.
Our town is growing rapidly with new housing developments, the new Cardinia Council offices, many schools and new businesses and to lose our post office from the centre of all this development is alarming and distressing.
On the agenda at our next Officer and District Community Association meeting on Wednesday 27 November at the Officer Recreation Reserve social rooms at 8pm.
We will discuss mail delivery for our residents and businesses and the return of our mail box.
Our Officer Post Office should be returned to our new town centre when it is completed to ensure central access for the Officer community.
Concerned residents Jenny and Shane Stirling, Mary and Geoff Griffiths, Carol and Rob Porter, Carol Baxter, Annette and Robert Aldersea, Joy and John Hicks, Lorraine and Michael Petrovich.
