FAMILY man Craig Dyker appreciates interleague footy and what it represents better than just about anyone.
The rugged 31-year-old Kooweerup backman made his representative debut for the EDFL side last year and never thought his chance would come.
“It was great for me,” he told the Gazette from the visitor’s rooms after the Demons’ big win over Nar Nar Goon on Saturday.
“I made sure I grabbed the opportunity but it made it a bit easier with the selectors picking a side of defensive players because the year before they more went for on-ballers that covered the ground.”
Dyker is under no illusions when it comes it his role out on the ground, but he just focuses on what he can control – giving 100 per cent at all time for his team, whether that’s Kooweerup or the EDFL interleague side, which he has made the initial squad for once again.
The EDFL will take on Mid Gippsland at Western Park in Warragul on 24 May.
