Snakes across the land

Following the route that’s officially been charted
Kooweerup’s new bypass, has well and truly started,
Machinery roams the paddocks now, an’ as time comes to pass,
When the job’s completed, I’ll stand an’ raise my glass!
I’ve described in the past, with nudges an’ winks,
The plight of frogs an’ graylings, bandicoots an’ skinks,
But construction has commenced, an’ I am quite delighted,
An’ so far any skinks haven’t yet been sighted!
Dodging all the wildlife, an’ every neighbour’s cat,
That handy strip of bitumen will wind across the flat …
An’ when they cut the ribbon, strike up the old brass band,
I’ll salute that brand new bypass, that snakes across the land!
