I AM also appalled at the graffiti that keeps coming back after a clean-up. I’ve been wondering about the motivation of these vandals.
I can only surmise that they are so lacking in self-esteem and sense of identity (perhaps due to a lack of parental love?) that they have to leave their mark all over the place.
A bit like dogs leaving their mark, actually. There are so many more interesting activities to occupy young people; they don’t need to turn to crime. Australia’s beauty is being destroyed by these people.
I would suggest the council plant bushes with sharp spikes (e.g. bougainvillea) around places that are frequently targeted. That should protect some places, at least. In the long run that may save some money on the clean-up efforts.
