Heart of art

IT IS wonderful to see more attention, effort and funding being directed at creative arts within the shire.
New public art pieces relevant to the areas chosen in Pakenham and Gembrook have been created by talented artists – with more to come in our public spaces for communities to enjoy and criticise, stimulating art discussion and awareness.
Our communities are experiencing a kaleidoscope of successful, and inspired visual art exhibitions, in Emerald, Pakenham with Provenance Art Show at the CCC featuring local and international artists, followed by a record attendance at the successful Yakkerboo Art show
at the Pakenham Hall.
We now have a new art studio in Short Lane with views and amenities to die for, also an abstract studio in the area is being contemplated. Later this year Beaconsfield Community Centre will host an art exhibition with Rotary. It is all happening!
Let me tell you all the schools within the shire without exception have dedicated, creative, awesome, inspirational teachers with their dedication to visual and performing arts, with emphases placed on dance, instrumental involvement and theatre performance. All artists should become mentors of youth and offer their services to encourage and inspire our young creative people.
Councillor Kate Lempriere,
Cardinia Shire Council.
