Mower man moweth

WHAT a shock on Monday morning to see that the council tractor had slashed my pale flax-lilies (Dianella longifolia)! I had grown seven in a neat line one foot apart either side of my letterbox.
The dianellas were a nice way to guide traffic away from a shallow drain rather than posts. I spent countless hours weeding, watering and mowing around them.
At last after three years they flowered profusely and looked magnificent in the rural landscape. Alas, the mower man shows no respect to rural properties.
Susan Davies,
Monomeith.
