Market pulls back all around

There was one less buyer at Baw Baw Livestock Exchange, Warragul, on Wednesday last week and, coupled with this easier condition across the pens, prices eased in most categories.
The margin wasn’t big, with the yard slipping five cents to 211.6 cents.
All categories saw the top back on the previous week with heifers slipping the most and steers were firm to stronger.
Veal remained firm and bullocks were regarded as firm although the easier condition and lighter weights pulled them back slightly.
Ninety six bullocks topped at 228 cents, back nine cents, and averaged 203.2 cents, back three cents; 56 heifers topped at 223.6 cents, back 19 cents, and averaged 194.3 cents, back nine cents; 135 steers topped at 230 cents, back seven cents, and averaged 203.7 cents, up one cent and 351 veal topped at 265 cents, back 10 cents, and averaged 223.4 cents, back 1.5 cents.
Although condition was fair to good on Thursday, processors are holding stock, and this showed during the sale as bulls eased 12 cents on average to 196.2 cents.
There were 33 bulls penned and the top was back 19 cents to 239.6 cents.
Cows ended the day in a similar fashion.
With 315 head on offer the top was 210 cents, back five cents, and the average was 158.4 cents, back 10 cents also.
