Buyers take on strong market

There were approximately 1000 export and 950 young cattle penned representing an increase of 650 head week-on-week at the Victorian Livestock Exchange this week.
There was a full field of buyers present and operating in a stronger market.
Quality was fairly good with a better selection of trade cattle, grown steers and bullocks while demand for the secondary lines improved a little.
The vealers suited to butcher orders sold firm to a few cents dearer.
Yearling trade steers held firm while the heifers to the trade improved four cents to seven cents per kilogram.
Grown steers and bullocks lifted eight cents to 10 cents for the better selection.
Heavy weight grown heifers gained 10 cents.
Heavy weight Friesian manufacturing steers kicked 14 cents with the crossbred portion 11 cents dearer.
The vealers sold mostly from 285 cents to 326 cents.
Yearling trade steers made between 285 cents and 323 cents.
Yearling heifers suited to the trade sold between 255 cents and 310 cents.
Feeder steers made from 244 cents to 292 cents with the heifer portion from 225 cents to 274 cents.
Grown steers sold from 268 cents to 309 cents.
Bullocks made between 276 cents and 300 cents.
Heavy weight grown heifers showing good finish sold between 243 cents and 280 cents.
Heavy weight Friesian manufacturing steers made from 245 cents to 250 cents with the crossbred portion from 255 cents to 295 cents.
