Man on the run after wild police pursuit

By Aneeka Simonis

A TEENAGE girl involved in an erratic police pursuit throughout the south-eastern suburbs is currently assisting police, but her male accomplice is on the run.

Multiple police cars and the air wing began chasing a reportedly stolen white Hilux after it was detected driving erratically on the Princes Freeway in Berwick at 10.10am.

The pursuit began in Narre Warren and travelled through Pakenham, Berwick and Cranbourne where the pursuit was called off at 11.05am.

Police said a 19-year-old female from Narre Warren got out of the car in Pakenham. She is assisting police with their inquiries.

The car and male driver are still outstanding.

Drivers witnessed the car travelling at high speeds.

At least two police cars are believed to have been damaged in the dramatic chase.

One motorist saw a police car driving through Pakenham with a damaged bumper.

Another was seen being towed away at Dandenong police station. It was covered in OC spray.

The Hilux was last seen on Cranbourne-Frankston Road in Cranbourne heading towards the Western Port Highway.

Anyone with information regarding the current whereabouts of the vehicle is urged to call Triple Zero (000).
