Pulling at the heart strings

Paul Miles took centre stage as he returned to the first tee at the Garfield Golf Club last week to relive his near-death experience when he was revived by a defibrillator in late January. And, despite his close call, Paul has lost none of his sense of humour after having an implantable defibrillator inserted inside his chest. “I asked the surgeon if I would be able to do normal things, like play the violin,” Paul said. “The surgeon said ‘yes, no problem Paul, you’ll be able to play the violin’ and I said ‘great, because I couldn’t play it before’.” 167314 Picture: DAVID NAGEL
