There were approximately 80 cows and four bulls penned at Pakenham’s Victorian Livestock Exchange representing a decrease of 140 head week-on-week with supply affected by the Queen’s Birthday holiday.
Most of the usual buying group was present and operating in a generally firm market.
Quality was mixed in the limited offering with a handful of leaner dairy cows and a few pens of well finished heavy weight beef cows on offer.
The leaner grades of mostly dairy cows gained a few cents while the heavy beef cows eased a couple of cents. Heavy weight bulls held firm.
Medium weight cows sold from 185 cents to 235 cents. Heavy weight cows made mostly between 214 cents and 266 cents.
Heavy weight bulls sold between 289 cents and 314 cents.
