Prices slip on larger yard

A larger yarding of 28 head at Baw Baw Livestock Exchange last on Wednesday sold to easier demand with the yard average slipping 20 cents to 289.8 cents.
There were extra numbers in the heifer and vealer sections with steer numbers remaining firm.
Fifty heifers topped at 320 cents, firm, and averaged 279.4 cents, back 15 cents, 30 steers topped at 314.2 cents, back 17 cents, and averaged 263 cents, back 30 cents, 208 veal topped at 369.2 cents, back 21 cents, and averaged 303.2 cents, back 20 cents.
There were extra head yarded on Thursday as well with 396 penned.
Twelve bulls sold to a top of 287.2 cents to average two cents up at 263.3 cents, and 382 cows sold to a top of 273.6 cents, up two cents.
The cow average was firm at 213.1 cents and the yard average was 215.2 cents.
The draw for 12 and 13 July is: 1 Landmark, 2 Elders, 3 Scotts. 4 SEJ, 5 Gibbon.
