Buyers struggle to fill requirements

There was a very small yarding last week at Baw Baw Livestock Exchange with 188 head offered.
Demand across most yards has eased with buyers finding it hard to get numbers.
Ninety per cent of the week’s sale were vealers and with the easier demand and some lacking condition, prices eased in the top pens except veal with the top sale up 30 cents.
However, the lack of condition in the secondary pens held the overall average back and the yard average was three cents easier at 286.4 cents.
Five heifers made to 277.2 cents, back 43 cents and averaged 248.3 cents, back 31 cents, seven steers made to 282.2 cents, back 32 cents, and averaged 278.1 cents, up 15 cents, 171 veal made to 399.2 cents, up 30 cents, and averaged 293.1 cents, back 10 cents.
The smaller numbers carried on through to Thursday with 16 bulls topping at 312.2 cents, up 25 cents on the previous week with the bull average nine cents better at 272.2 cents, 15 bullocks reached 245 cents to average 243.7 cents and there were 271 cows yarded topping at 258 cents, back 15 cents, and cows averaged two cents up at 215.4 cents, and the yard average was six cents better at 221.4 cents.
The draw for 19 and 20 July is: 1, Elders; 2, S.E.J.; 3, Landmark; 4, Scotts; 5, Gibbon.
