Market softer again

There was another drop in numbers on Wednesday last week at Baw Baw Livestock Exchange with 126 head penned.
Eight bullocks reached 296.6 cents and averaged 275.2 cents, up three cents, 16 heifers reached 286.2 cents, and averaged back at 256.5 cents, 15 steers reached 271.2 cents, up on the previous week, and averaged 247.3 cents, up seven cents.
A total of 87 veal reached 352.6 cents, firm, and averaged 304.9 cents, up five cents, 363 cows on Thursday remained steady at 203.4 cents, weights averaged slightly lighter, especially in the dairy pens, and some extra heavy beef cows sold to a top of 258.6 cents.
A larger number of bulls were yarded and with a couple of major buyers absent, prices eased reaching a top of 287.6 cents, back eight cents, and the bull average eased to 237.7 cents.
The draw for 30 and 31 August is: 1, Gibbon; 2, Scotts; 3, Elders; 4, SEJ; 5, Landmark.
