Buying weak on smaller market

There were approximately 730 export and 375 young cattle penned representing a decrease of 115 head week-on-week at Pakenham’s Victorian Livestock Exchange.
The buying group reduced to its regular attendance and not all buyers were operating fully in a cheaper market.
Quality was good with well-finished prime cattle throughout all weights and grades.
Vealers suited to butcher orders slipped 15 cents to 20 cents, yearling trade steers fell 15 cents to 25 cents while the heifer portion eased 10 cents to 15 cents.
Grown steers and bullocks sold from 10 cents to mostly 15 cents cheaper and heavy weight Friesian manufacturing steers eased seven cents with the crossbred portion back 12 cents.
Vealers to butchers sold from 277 cents to 312 cents, yearling trade steers made between 262 cents and 309 cents and yearling heifers to the trade sold between 242 cents and 284 cents.
