BERWICK resident Lindsay Hirst has expressed concern about demolition of a house at 153 High Street, Berwick, without asbestos protection.
Mr Hirst said he and other neighbours were put at risk because of the possibility that asbestos fibres would float across their properties.
He said Worksafe regulations were that the house should have been tented to prevent the escape of asbestos.
However, a Worksafe spokesperson said there was no regulation to require the house to be tented.
He said the contractors were working under correct regulations and a house with asbestos sheeting was of minimal risk unless it was being cut with power saws.
