Stars win second

AFTER losing their first 12 games of the season, Garfield under 18s put together backtoback victories, defeating Leongatha on Saturday by 73 points.
After an even first quarter, the Stars ran away, playing excellent team football to record their first victory on home soil.
Garfield jumped another spot on the ladder and the team will be hoping to finish the year with good performances against top sides Maffra and Traralgon.
Ben Rotheram kicked five goals for the Stars, while Darren Todaro, Jean PaceBonnello, Anthony Price, Xavier Naus and Andrew Fyffe were good players.

UNDER 16

Garfield was hoping for its first win against Leongatha on Saturday, but it wasn’t to be, the young Stars going down by 84 points.
Garfield had shown rapid improvement in recent weeks, but form seemed to desert the Stars on Saturday.
Ned Marsh, Rory Hower, Chris Bogart, Chris Young and Michael Kemmink were the Stars’ best.

WARRAGUL AND DISTRICT JUNIORS

Garfield’s under12 and under14 1/2 sides both played in second semifinals on Saturday.
While the under 14 1/2s went down, the under 12s had a good win to take them into the grand final in a fortnight’s time.
The under 14 1/2s will have another chance to make the grand final in this week’s preliminary final.
