Lessons help young Brookers

GEMBROOKCockatoo junior sides had a tough week against Seville, but came away with two victories and some useful lessons from the round.

UNDER 16

GembrookCockatoo took on Seville at Seville and it started raining five minutes into the game. The Brookers struggled to get a good start but, after some players got a spray at halftime, Brendan West, Cailen Parker, Liam Loveday and Stephen Retzack came out fighting hard to win the contests.
At threequarter time the players set out to keep Seville scoreless in the final term and almost achieved that, refusing to give up.

UNDER 14

Teamwork started to show against Seville and the Brookers ran in numbers and shared the ball, while the midfield and back line worked hard to keep Seville’s score down.

After three losses in a row, the Brookers bounced back against South Belgrave. Five goals straight in the third quarter put the result beyond doubt.

The Brookers played a good third quarter but had a disappointing loss. The opposition played the better football.

In a scrappy game with few highlights a good last quarter gave the Brookers some hope, but their efforts were too little, too late.

Against a strong Seville team the Brookers persisted all day and gave it their best shot, some of the lesser experienced players getting a few extra touches.
