ROC cracks

ROC seniors came back to earth with a thud when soundly beaten by Hampton Park by 75 points on Saturday.
The Kangaroos were outplayed from the first bounce with the visitors winning in most positions on the day.
ROC seemed slow and lethargic at times and was constantly beaten to the ball by a side that was determined to take home the four points.
Few Kangaroos were able to claim a win over their opponents, but Sean Stanton, Anthony Young and Scott Haughton tried all day and were among ROC’s best.
The Kangaroos will play Berwick in two weeks’ time.
Scores: Hampton Park 17.10.112 d ROC 4.13.37.
Goals for ROC: C. White, K. Dowsett, J. Goodes, D. de Jong.
Best for ROC: Sean Stanton, Anthony Young, Scott Haughton, Callum White and Brad Jones.
The Pakenham Hotel Award went to Anthony Young and the Shanika’s Restaurant Berwick Award went to Anthony Young.

RESERVES

ROC gave the undefeated competition leaders a run for their money before going down to Hampton Park by 31 points in an entertaining match.
Both teams played hard uncompromising football, but the superior skills of Hampton Park and better delivery to its forwards was the difference.
Anthony Jones and Greg Overdyk were good for ROC and Steve McIntyre led the side well.
The team showed patches of the type of form needed to win games and as players return from injury the side should become more settled and stretch the leading sides in this competition.
Scores: Hampton Park 15.17.107 d ROC 12.4.76.
Goals for ROC: A. Jones, S. McIntyre, S. Marchetti 3, M. James, L. Pitcher, P. Tucker 1.
Best for ROC: Anthony Jones, Greg Overdyk, Steve McIntyre, Matthew James and Luke Pitcher.

UNDER 18

Fielding probably its best side for the season, the young Kangaroos stayed with Hampton Park for the first half, before falling away to lose by a 109 points.
There were a few players performing below their best and were beaten by a better side on the day.
Playing his first game for the club, Tim Gray showed great endeavour and had plenty of possessions. Josh Boyle was solid and disciplined and Jayden Vaka and Steve Delaney for the full four quarters.
Scores: Hampton Park 20.17.137 d ROC 4.4.28.
Goal kickers for ROC: N. Phillips 2, J. Minnis and D. McDonald 1.
Best for ROC: Tim Gray, Jayden Vaka, Josh Boyle, Glenn Marshall and Daniel McDonald.
The Bubba’s Pizza Pakenham awards went to J. Vaka and J. Boyle.
