NYORA’S Bgrade team is set for a close game against KilcundaBass this week with second spot on the ladder in its sights.
The Maroons travelled to Bass to play the second place KilcundaBass in an important game for both teams.
Nyora won the toss and batted first, Brenton Hackett and Mark Pearse started well before Hackett fell for 25.
The inform Nick Fairbank then joined Pearse for a handy partnership before both fell in successive overs.
Fairbank made and enterprising 39 and Pearse 40.
Steady wickets fell before Nathan Smith and Brendan Hayes made handy lowerorder runs, Smith (25 not out) and Hayes (16 not out) before rain stopped play after 61.2 overs with Nyora a competitive 7/193 against the consistent KilcundaBass attack.
D GRADE
Nyora hosted Cardinia that batted first in cloudy and overcast conditions.
The visitors were in trouble early as opening bowlers Ryan McIntosh and Jacob Bohmer took steady wickets to have Cardinia reeling early in the day.
McIntosh finished the day with 3/31 and Bohmer 2/39.
Billy Hayes and Peter Jensen both bowled well to have Cardinia and one stage 9/113, but a lastwicket stand took it to a competitive 171.
Hayes finished with 3/34 and Jensen 2/35 in a good allround performance by the Nyora bowlers.
Nyora then batted and finished 2/78 stumps and should push for a victory next week.
Hayes made 21 and Jensen is 28 not out.
UNDER 17
Nyora played Lang Lang and dismissed the host team for 140.
Nyora is 1/21 at stumps.
UNDER 13
After a win the previous week, Nyora went into this game with plenty on confidence and restricted Merinda Park, (the top side) to 4/106 off 25 overs.
Best of the bowlers was Dylan Heylen 1/5, Jack Strybosch and Michael Van Weel both 1/7, Dylan and Jack both taking excellent catches as well.
Nyora batted out the overs to finish on 9/67.
Top scorers were Dylan Heylen (14), Jade Ellams and Jack Strybosch (8), a good effort against a very good side.
