UPGRADES to PakenhamKooweerup Road were voted the number one priority of residents for Kooweerup at a public forum last week.
The need for improvements to public transport both around town and to other centres such as Pakenham were also seen as high priorities.
More than 50 people attended the forum, hailed as a very positive event by organisers.
Titled ‘Kooweerup at the Crossroads, Time for Action’, the forum was part of initiatives to reinvigorate Kooweerup following the closure of one of the town’s biggest employers, PMP Print, earlier this year.
Sponsored by Cardinia Shire Council and the State Government’s Department of Human Services, the forum was facilitated by John Moore.
Westernport Ward councillor Doug Hamilton said many positive ideas were raised by residents during the twoday forum.
The connection of natural gas to the town, the need for a new police station and moves for extra sporting facilities were other issues put forward.
