YOUNG people in the Cardinia Shire are urged to get rocking for the 2009 Push Start Battle of the Bands.
Young people aged 14 and 21 years of age who live, study, work or recreate in Cardinia Shire are eligible to enter their acts in this year’s competition.
Cardinia Shire Council Youth Services officer Carrolyn Agius said the competition was a fantastic opportunity for local bands to perform before of a live audience.
“We have had some entries in but are really keen to have more to ensure we have a great line-up for the Cardinia Shire Battle on Friday 7 August.”
Last year, more than 350 young people watched eight bands battle it out, with Francis Dolarhyde taking out first place, followed by Head From Hottie in second and The Thieving Gypsies in third.
Entries need to be submitted by close of business Friday 19 June. The first place winner of Push Start will have the opportunity to play at the regional finals, where the chosen winner will then go on to compete at the Push Over festival in 2010.
