Courses help cut road dangers

BERWICK Lions Club members have been working to help reduce the road toll.
In 2004 the club started Project Driving Force which resulted in free or subsidised defensive driver education courses for nearly 200 Year 12 P platers and other drivers.
Seven Casey and Cardinia Lions clubs as well as others as far afield as Blackburn North, Lilydale and Caulfield have allocated funds to help reduce the Christmas and New Year’s road toll.
Berwick Lions president David Irons and project coordinator Graham Cockerell on Sunday, 10 December accompanied a group of year 12 students to a Murcotts Driving Excellence course at Sandown Raceway.
Another group will be trained this Sunday, 17 December.
Sponsorship is available for other positions at Murcotts in January and February next year.
Further information is available from Graham Cockerell on 5944 4111.
