Kids saddle up for glory

THE Victorian Primary Interschool Equestrian Challenge saw schools from across Victoria compete for glory at Upper Beaconsfield last week.
The ‘A-team’ of Bunyip’s Columba Catholic Primary School took out the overall prize on 86 points at the Victorian Equestrian Centre (VEC), helped by Felicity Johnson, who came first in all four of her competitions.
Events on the day included handy mount, jumping equestrian, pleasure mount and the games course. Prizes also went to the ‘best presented’ and ‘best rider’.
Courtney Fraser of the VEC said the events, which were run across Monday and Tuesday last week, went well, despite a delay in scoring.
Other local schools also performed well, including Bunyip, Clyde, Emerald, Macclesfield, Narre Warren North, Pakenham Hills, St Margaret’s, Beaconsfield and Upper Beaconsfield primary schools.
The VEC’s next major event will be the Victorian Interschool Challenge for secondary colleges in February or March.
