Berwick bowls cliffhangers

LAST Saturday was highlighted by very close roundfour pennant games at Berwick Bowls Club.
Most notable was the Berwick (2) team against MCC and Berwick (6) against Sandringham and both were very competitively fought out.
The match against MCC was long and hard and finished into the evening after a great finish for spectators supporting both sides.

The fifth round of pennant matches was played on Tuesday, 25 October. Strong winds buffeted most greens and made play quite difficult at times.
Berwick (1) (A1 Section 7) played Black Rock (1) at home and won with 49 shots up. The final score was 11869.
Berwick (2) (A1 Section 8) played an away match and lost to Hampton (1) with five shots down. The final score was 97102.
Berwick (3) (A2 Section 8) defeated Hampton Park (1) in a home match with 49 shots up. The final score was 12071.
Berwick (4) (B1 Section 8) in an away match was defeated by Moorabbin (3) with 15 shots down. The final score was 7792.

The VLBA handicap triples was played on Wednesday, 26 October.
Winners of the event was the team of Lois Bennett, Judith Faulkner and Rina McGonnagle.
Runnersup were the team of Rita Macreadie, Avril Steere and Joan Baxter.
