Bull charges to medal win

PAKENHAM Golf Club’s Darren Bull played a top round for an excellent nett 67 to win the August monthly medal on Saturday.
A grade went to Mick McManus with 69 and Ron Horne won B grade also with 69.
Mick McManus was the winner of the scratch event with 71 gross. The Great Australian Bakery sponsored the medal.
Downtheline winners were Noel Boyd 69, Peter Blackwell 70, Rod Cameron, Tasi Taito, Stuart Hare, Brett Hume, David Chick, Matt Ryan all 71, Clint Raven, Ed Regis, Ross Stewart, Michael Hildebrand all 72, Rick Gibbs, Stephen Mann, Grant Emmott, Maurice Rossetti all 73, Martin Spurway, Barry Wood, Steve Levett, Scott Findlay, Paul Hobson, Lee Peries all 74, Colin Crowle, Grant McKay, Matt Yusoff, Ray Allen and Steve Chapman all 75.
All 75’s were paid on a countback.
Nearest the pins were won by Ron Horne (golf shop second hole), Ivan Katta (Pakenham Subway fifth hole), Nik Hock (Dante’s Woodfired Pizza eighth hole), Rick Gibbs (Hungry Jack’s 14th) and Peter Blackwell (Pakenham Pizza 16th).
The B.M.R. Autos second shot on the sixth went to John Naoum and Ken McIntyre won the second shot on the 12th. Mick McManus won the Unique Bathroom Design and Renovations second shot on the 11th hole.
The longest drives saw Brett Mottrom win the B.M.R. Autos A grade. Neil Mani was the winner of the Bgrade longest drive and Mick Conroy won the McIntyre Painting Cgrade longest drive.
Dale Richards and Grant McKay won the raffle.
This week is Stableford and the week after is president’s/captain’s day – a Stableford event.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

This will be held on the Thursday, 1 September at 7.30 pm.
Nominations are now open for the board of management and subcommittees.
Forms are on the shelf below the noticeboard in the clubhouse.
All members are urged to attend.

MONDAY COMPETITION

Heath Barclay was the winner of the Stableford competition, on a countback, coming in with 41 points from Grant Emmott.
Peter Lawlor 39, Colin MacLean 38, Brian Doherty 37, Nik Hock 37, S Johnson 36, Keith Massey 36 and R. Thouliss 36 were the downtheline winners.
Nik Hock was the winner of the nearest the pin on the eighth hole and Jack Lloyd took out the 14th.

WEDNESDAY COMPETITION

Leo Cester won the Stableford competition, coming in with 39 points from Eric Butcher and Scott Hooper with 38.
Down the lines went to Steve Chapman 37, Ron Horne 36, Norm Carter 36, Alan Halleur 36, Bob Morrison 36, Rick Gibbs 36 and Chris Underwood 36.
Owen Bumpstead won nearest the pin on the second hole and R. Thouliss took out the 14th.

LADIES

There was no play for the ladies on Thursday due to inclement weather.
The fourballbestball challenge starts this Thursday and Friday is the Pakenham ladies charity day for the Ronald McDonald House.
Two juniors joined the ladies’ competition on Saturday with Bianca Walker coming in with a nett 72 to win the competition and Elly Briggs got a downtheline ball.
