A MAJOR signalling fault caused rail and traffic delays when levelcrossing boom gates stuck shut on the Pakenham line last Thursday.
Several gates closed simultaneously at 6.15am when an electrical fault at Caulfield sparked the failsafe system. Cranbourne and Frankston lines were also affected.
Connex spokesman Andrew Cassidy said the fault was fixed at 7.10am but occurred again and was rectified finally at 7.30am, causing major delays.
Rail services were held up by up to 40 minutes.
