MIKE Tyler and his team at the City of Casey are rubbing their hands with glee after what appears to be another jackpot.
Several leading Australian developers, some really big players, were among the companies that lodged expressions of interest in developing the council’s activity centre on the civic precinct at Narre Warren.
The deadline for expressions of interest was noon on Wednesday, 16 November.
Officers will work with consultants and a probity auditor to compare the submissions with the already agreed evaluation of what the centre should be.
Mr Tyler said the council would be able to announce a short list of developers by March who would be invited to tender for the work.
Plans for the centre include a new retail precinct that surrounds a leading edge arts facility, new community library, civic centre, car parking and public open space.
The big plus for this new Tyler deal is that the long dreamt of arts facility and new civic centre will come at no cost to ratepayers.
Chalk this one up, it’s a good one.
