Conservation cash

COMMUNITY groups have been invited to apply for conservation initiative grants.
Casey manager of engineering and environmental services David Richardson said the council was committed to supporting a range of creative projects from people passionate about Casey’s environment.
He said funding from $500 to $1000 would be available for projects that would deliver a conservation benefit.
“Projects can range from a planting event at a reserve, an education exercise to promote recycling and waste minimisation, an environmental study or other green ideas.”
Applications close 5pm on Friday 13 October.
Application registration forms and criteria are available on the council’s website www.casey.vic .gov.au or on 9705 5200.
“Projects could also include revegetation or landscaping, with preference to use indigenous native plants, interpretive educational material, community arts or management planning, training, waste minimisation or alternative energy, natural, built or cultural environment initiatives, commercial or industrial, and academic projects.”
